VOICES OF ALLERDALE Cockermouth Kids Sing For Allerdale This was a flood of biblical proportions..." These words spoken by the MP for Workington were an expression of what he felt and saw with his own eyes. The devastation and consequent chaos is evident for all to witness and this CD is a way for the children of Cockermouth's Junior Schools to make their small contribution to reviving the spirit of Allerdale. The Mangledwurzels sign to Wurzels old label!

West Country Scrumpy & Western band The Mangledwurzels, brought up on a diet of cider and Wurzels songs, have struck a deal with Cumbrian record label Loose Records – who had the real Wurzels on their books in the 1990s.
Based in Somerset, The Mangledwurzels started performing as a Wurzels tribute band, but quickly started to write and perform their own songs. Now the band are in the studio recording a complete album of original songs – with titles like Cider Be Good for ‘Ee, The Poacher & The Gamekeeper and I Can Drive a Tractor - due for release in the first quarter of 2009.
Loose Records quickly snapped up this hard-working band. Said Loose head honcho Andrew Titcombe: “The band are gigging pretty much every weekend of the year – with some high profile venues and events booking them; and once I heard the new songs they were recording I felt that this is a band who are on the way up. We have agreed a two-album deal in the first place, a re-issue of their first album Get Orf My Land! which has previously only been available at the band’s gigs – and the new album Wurz’Ee II as soon as they have it finished. We also have some singles planned for the coming months too.”
Singer and frontman Hedge Cutter said: “Getting a chance to work with Andrew is something we are happy to do. The business side of the music industry is a complete mystery to us, and having Andrew there to look after that side of things means we can concentrate on what we do best - entertaining people! We were a bit suspicious of working with at first, let’s fact it – he’s a Northerner’! But if The Wurzels were happy to trust him, then we’d be fools not to…”
The Mangledwurzels live album Get Orf My Land! will be re-issued on Loose Records in January, and made available from the Loose Records website, online record store CD-Baby, and as a Download on iTunes. The band’s second album Wurz’Ee II is currently being recorded, and will be released later in 2009.
TWO new albums from Pete Bite

Pete Bite is re-issuing his past albums on Loose Records. The first two are now available as finished CDs and as downloads on iTunes etc.
PETE’S first BITE of the music business.
In the early 1970’s Pete formed a band in Northern Ireland with Gerry Tweedie (Bass), Denis McCann (Drums) and Sean Poland (Guitar) called ‘Friends’ They were offered a tour of Scotland backing two Country & Western singers, Carmel and Gerry.
The band was based in Glasgow where they played the clubs and pubs including the Celtic and Rangers football clubs. Their very first gig was on a cold December evening in the Clydebank football social club. While they where in the dressing room someone walking onto the stage in front of hundreds of people and stole one of their microphones. Throughout that year their experience of Glasgow included a thief trying to run off with their PA mixer at a gig in the Irish Club, Grobals and their van with all their equipment being stolen when they stopped for a cup of tea in Maryhill. They saw the van drive pass and gave chase but it was three days later before the van was discovered abandoned and empty.
They struggled from one thief to another but managed to survive in the tough city for over a year and from Glasgow as their base, they travelled to Thurso at the very top of Scotland down to the border town of Carlisle. They would play in every town and city that had a club or hall including Doroch, Dingwall, Inverness, Elgin, Peterhead, Dundee and Edinburgh. Pete remembers driving up and down the east of Scotland more times than going to the toilet.
Their journey south of Glasgow included just as many venues in as many towns such as Kilmarnock, Ayr, Newton Stewart, Lockerbie and even Gretna Green. They also played the major venues in Cumbria including ‘The Talk of the Border’ Carlisle and the White Heather Hotel.
“We seemed to be in our van more often than on stage”, Pete recalls.
The band were in great demand and Pete’s most poignant memory of that tour is going to bed every morning at 6am when it was getting light and getting up at 6pm when it was getting dark. He can’t remember seeing any daylight for over a year.
When the boys had a rare moment of free time they would rehearse some of Pete’s songs and eventually, when they discovered a little recording studio in a town outside Glasgow called Falkirk, they made their first demos.
Even though it was the first time they had been in a recording studio, the raw and distinctive sound of the band got them noticed when Pete took the demos to London. Mickie Most was so knocked out by what he heard that he signed Pete to RAK Records there and then.

Moon William’s ALL FOR YOU rare 7inch Northern Soul vinyl sells for £450 on the internet.
Thanks to the internet (and maybe this website!) fans of Moon William continue to push for his talent to be recognised.
Just recently his much sougt after single ALL FOR YOU sold for for £450 – a record price but, in keeping with his increased popularity amongst Northern Soul fans in particular. The ironisc thing is that Moon does not have a copy of the single and, as he never made any money from it when it came out, is unlikely to be able to afford it now.

A previously unheard XERO track “Don’t you think its time” that was originally going to be the follow-up to Oh Baby is now available on iTunes.
Loose Records have issued a not-for-sale promotional sampler of tracks that they hope will be released over the next 12 months. These include a previously unheard XERO track “Don’t you think its time” that was originally going to be the follow-up before the band split up.
Written by the band’s guitarist and vocalist, Moon Williams, this track shows the great promise this band had before their early demise.

Loose Records have added a new dimension to the nursery rhyme series they started last year. The previously released Diddle Diddle Doodle Doo CD was all music and most of them well-known favourites. Now in Volume Two – aptly entitled Diddle Diddle Doodle Too – we have spoken word nursery rhymes and action songs.
