Moon William’s ALL FOR YOU rare 7inch Northern Soul
vinyl sells for £450 on the internet.
Thanks to the internet (and maybe this website!) fans
of Moon Williams continue to push for his talent to be
recognised.
Just recently his much sought after single ALL FOR YOU
sold for for £450 – a record price, but, in keeping
with his increased popularity amongst Northern Soul
fans in particular. The ironic thing is that Moon
does not have a copy of the single and, as he never
made any money from it when it came out, is unlikely
to be able to afford it now.
Moon Williams was the vocalist for the house band at the famous Marquee Club, in Wardour Street, London. He has made many records over his career in a variety of names. Among the vocals tracks he has lent his talent to are records by Ray Russell. His backing musicians and backing vocalists read like a who’s who of the British music scene at the time. Ray Russell, Mo Foster, Frank Ricotti. Vocalists included Madelaine Bell and Vicki Brown, the late wife of the famous rock n roller Joe Brown. He has also sung backing vocals on many other people’s sessions.
Moon Williams lent his voice to Stevie Wonder songs, the Real Thing, KC and the Sunshine Band, Al Green, the Average White Band and Hot Chocolate for budget albums and supermarket/lift muzak.
Moon Williams was No 1 in Denmark with a house and garage track he wrote called “Help”.
The Voice Magazine sponsored a competition to find the "black voice of '98” held at the Empire Rooms in Tottenham Court Road in London. Moon Williams was the winner. Moon Williams has supported Marvin Gaye, the Three Degrees, Van Morrison, Hot Chocolate and Ben E King on tour.
He has sung R n B, he has sung, rock, he has sung heavy metal, he has sung pop, he has sung ballads, he has sung disco, he has had songs in films and as TV themes. He has appeared on television he has even sung a football song to celebrate the World Cup.
And yet……………………so few people have realised who he is and over the next few months we aim to change that with a campaign to put Moon Williams on to everyone's playlist.
